As a fitness enthusiast and general health and wellness advocate, I am always on the look out for new things to assist with my mental and physical health. IV Therapy has been on my radar for years as a hangover cure for people who have had too much to drink the night before, but as someone who has been sober for over 11 years, I never really looked into the concept.
It wasn’t until about a year ago when a friend suggested I give IV hydration a try before a half marathon, that I started to realize IV Therapy could do more than just cure hangovers. When I utilized IV hydration the day before the race, I noticed a significant change in my running performance and my recovery time post-race.
When I started digging more into the idea of IV hydration therapy, I started to realize there were so many more benefits than I initially thought.
Recently, I had to the opportunity to go into Pure Drip IV Health & Wellness, the first brick-and-mortar IV hydration bar in Fort Collins to try some of their services. I brought my husband, Jon, who is the ultimate skeptic and also afraid of needles. We both really enjoyed the experience. The space itself is very well situated, incredibly clean, and cultivates a very calming experience. The chairs, couches, and lounges are all incredibly comfortable, and there are several TVs throughout to help you pass the time. The drip time itself is not very long, approximately 45 minutes to an hour, and goes by very quickly. It’s a great place to go and relax for an hour if you are looking for a way to make yourself a priority.

What is IV Therapy and what are the benefits?
Intravenous therapy, or IV therapy, is the administration of a fluid substance directly into a vein. It is typically used in a hospital setting to treat a range of conditions from dehydration to nutrient-absorption disorders. But, it is being increasingly offered at independent clinics that pledge to help people feel better without having to utilize already burdened and expensive emergency departments. Some of the main benefits of IV therapy include:
- Supports the immune system
- Aids in athletic recovery
- Helps maintain a youthful appearance
- Assists with stress relief
- Offers pregnancy support
- Mitigates migraine pain
- Reduces hangover effects
What about the intramuscular (IM) vitamin injections?
Intramuscular (IM) injections are administered directly into the muscle, in shot form. They have a higher absorption rate than oral supplements and give specific nutrient boosts such as B12, B-Complex, Glutathione, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), Glycine, Magnesium, L-Carnitine, Biotin, and others.
You can read about the extensive benefits of each drip cocktail and IM booster Pure Drip offers below.
IV Therapy and Covid-19:
IV Therapy offers services that aid the body in fighting infection by bolstering the immune system. Dr. Fauci (lead member of President Trump’s White House Coronavirus Task Force and Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infection Disease) has recently recommended taking Vitamin C and Vitamin D to help the body immune system prepare for and fight an infection like Covid-19.
By utilizing IV therapies and IM vitamin injections, the body is able to absorb the nutrients at a higher level, because they do not have to pass through the GI system like with oral supplements.
As a business that is run by medical professionals on a daily basis, they are extremely adept and in-tune with all the necessary precautions surrounding Covid-19. They created a specific action plan and implemented protocols to address client and employee safety immediately.
About the Owners:
Chris and Charlene Wilson are Southeast Fort Collins residents who stumbled across the idea of an IV therapy bar while spending the weekend in Denver. They loved the idea and thought it was a fantastic concept, so they ran head first into opening the first brick-and-mortar location in Fort Collins. When doing their research, they discovered many people are actually nutrient deficient, and realized how much IV Therapy helps make people feel better in their day to day lives.
Charlene is a licensed Cosmetologist with a degree from Hair Dynamics in Fort Collins and started Vixen Lashes & Nail Bar. Chris holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Idaho and volunteered as EMT with Poudre Valley Hospital. Both Chris and Charlene have a love for the medical industry and were immediately draw to the idea of helping people when Pure Drip was conceived.
Chris and Charlene love working with other Fort Collins small businesses and forging partnerships to help each other grow. Something about Fort Collins that always puts them in a good mood is walking through Old Town, grabbing dinner at Los Tarascos and a drink or two. They also enjoy dinning at Cacciatore.
